Philippines Men’s MLBB Secures 3rd Straight SEAG Gold Medal
The SIBOL team of the Philippines has showcased their supremacy in the game Mobile Legends: Bang Bang by securing a resounding 3-0 triumph over Malaysia at the 32nd SEA Games.
This victory marks their third consecutive gold medal in MLBB, which was included as a medal sport along with other esports categories at the 30th SEA Games held in 2019.
The starting lineup of SIBOL comprises of players from Bren Esports, led by experienced head coach Francis “Duckey” Glindro.
SIBOL underwent a challenging playoffs phase when they encountered Myanmar's top contenders in the semi-final yesterday. The match was an intense 2-1 battle, and SIBOL emerged victorious, securing a spot in the grand final.
In the grand final, a clash of two distinct team-building strategies occurred: chemistry versus star potential. SIBOL had a lineup of the seasoned starting five from Bren Esports, while Malaysia's team showcased star players from different MPL MY teams.
In the end, SIBOL's game plan of putting forth a united and efficient team emerged as a crucial element in their triumph.
While Bren Esports comfortably clinched the series, the victory was hard-earned, especially during the initial and second games, when Malaysia displayed a formidable resistance against the Philippine team.
Moreover, this win is also significant as Angelo "Pheww" Arcangel secures his second SEA Games medal after representing the Philippines in 2019.
