Ubisoft Is Commencing The Remake Of Prince Of Persia

Ubisoft made the initial announcement of remaking "Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time" back in 2020, with plans for a release the following year. However, after almost three years, Ubisoft has provided an update on the highly anticipated game. According to a developer Q&A released by the company, the game is currently in the early stages of conception.

Ubisoft Montreal has taken over the project from Ubisoft Pune, and the team is actively considering community feedback while also shaping their own vision for the game. Producer Jean-Francois Naud explained in an in-house interview that they are in the process of assembling their team, creating prototypes, and conducting tests to refine various aspects of the game. He emphasized that the development is still in its early stages. As of now, Ubisoft has not disclosed a revised release date for the remake.

Prince Of Persia Trivia

  1. Inspired by Real-Life Parkour: The acrobatic movements and fluidity of Prince of Persia's protagonist were influenced by the real-life discipline of parkour. The developers aimed to create a character who could traverse environments with agility and grace, drawing inspiration from parkour practitioners.

  2. Groundbreaking Animation: The original Prince of Persia game, released in 1989, was notable for its realistic and lifelike animations. The developer, Jordan Mechner, actually filmed his younger brother performing various actions like running, jumping, and sword fighting, which were then rotoscoped to create the game's fluid character movements.

  3. The Sands of Time Trilogy: The Sands of Time was the first installment in a critically acclaimed trilogy. It was followed by two sequels, Prince of Persia: Warrior Within (2004) and Prince of Persia: The Two Thrones (2005). The trilogy showcased a dark and mature storyline, evolving gameplay mechanics, and continued the adventures of the Prince.

  4. Return to 2D: In 2008, Ubisoft released Prince of Persia (2008), which marked a departure from the trilogy's 3D gameplay. The game returned to its 2D roots while introducing a new cel-shaded art style. It offered a more stylized and artistic approach to the series, featuring a unique visual presentation.

  5. A Forgotten Warrior: Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands (2010) served as a standalone entry in the series. It acted as a bridge between The Sands of Time trilogy and the 2008 reboot, and featured gameplay elements that combined the powers of the Sands of Time with new elemental abilities.

These trivia facts highlight some of the interesting aspects of the Prince of Persia series, including its inspirations, animation techniques, trilogy structure, stylistic changes, and the connection between different games in the franchise.
