Garps fate is unknown but that only mean he is alive, just imprisoned or something. Also I swear to God that if Kuzan didn't joined Blackbeard to have eye on him as a spy I'll go riot. It seems like he made sure to defeat Garp himself because those small fries and Pizzaro would kill him one way or another so Kuzan simply have to have some business in joinig them. Also great job for world government, they sended almost everyone after Luffy and lost to Blackbeard both of their heroes: young one and old one. Though "old one" came to the rescue so in the end young one will come back to them.
Well, I think there is small chance that Garps situation may save Luffy because world government may have to withdraw their forces from Egg Head to send them after Blackbeard. Well, without Blackbeard there if someone would be sended to save Garp residents of Pirat Island aren't that much of a problem. In the end even with Garp in his possession Blackbeard won't be happy that he lost all slaves he had there for sale so it's still small win I guess.
I guess the freezing part makes a Garp flashback pretty unlikely, at least in the short term, so this first Hachinosu sequence was a bit underwhelming in general. I feel like Garp didn't show us enough for the titanic captains to really be seen as powerhouses, and people are probably hating on Koby after the last chapter, so pretty much none of the characters involved benefited from this. I'm happy that we're going back to Egg-head.
