What to expect from One Piece Episode 1159: "Escape Block Kingdom"

The Straw Hats are deep in the LEGO-like labyrinth of Block Kingdom, and things are about to get very loud, very fast. There's something genuinely exciting about watching One Piece in 2026. After decades of manga panels and years of fan anticipation, the Elbaph Arc is finally here in animated form and the show is absolutely delivering. Episode 1158, "A Quest in the Land of Mystery! The Secret of the Sun God," dropped this week, and if you haven't seen it yet, carve out 24 minutes for yourself. It earns them.

The Straw Hat crew finds themselves stranded in Block Kingdom, a strangely deserted island that looks like it was assembled from oversized toy bricks. It's a whimsical setting that plays beautifully against the tension building underneath it. As always, Luffy and company manage to get into trouble before they've barely said hello to the locals.

Their first encounter with a Giant in Block Kingdom is almost charming a groundskeeper riding a massive grasshopper like it's a Harley Davidson, who turns out to be more exasperated than angry. The second Giant encounter is considerably less friendly. After the crew breaks into the Sun God's temple and gets into an all-out brawl with the giant-sized animals inside (very on-brand), they end the episode completely cornered by a cloaked, mysterious figure. The show wisely holds back you don't see the face, you don't get an explanation. Just the looming presence of someone who may or may not be the Sun God they were warned about. It's the kind of cliffhanger this series does so well.

Crunchyroll has been making moves to close dub gaps across its spring lineup (Witch Hat Atelier, Re:ZERO, Dorohedoro and others are releasing with dub options), so there's reason for optimism. But Elbaph in English dub remains a waiting game for now.
