Prince Grus

Prince Grus is a Marine Rear Admiral stationed at Marine Base G-14 and a member of the elite squad known as SWORD. Interestingly, his fellow SWORD members address him with the title of "Prince," which is different from his surname. Initially introduced as a brief antagonist during "Gang" Bege's Oh My Family Cover Page Serial, Grus made his proper debut in the main series during the Egghead Arc. He is a muscular young man with shaggy hair, often seen donning a fur coat, open shirt, dark pants, and a Marine cap with an oversized bill. Notably, he wears rings on each of the four fingers of his right hand. Grus is known for his patience and level-headedness, adhering strictly to Marine protocols and avoiding unnecessary risks, even when faced with pressure from others to take action.

However, beneath his composed demeanor, Grus harbors a sense of envy towards his fellow Marines who have higher reputations. He struggled to believe that Koby was considered the "Hero of the Navy" and even vowed to sabotage him. As a Marine Rear Admiral and a member of SWORD, he wields considerable power and boasts impressive skills, ranking among the finest the Marines have to offer. In terms of combat ability, Grus is a force to be reckoned with, effortlessly defeating Gotti of the Fire Tank Pirates, who had a bounty of 90,000,000 beli. He also showcases incredible speed, employing the Soru technique to move swiftly. His powers stem from the Gunyo Gunyo no Mi, a mysterious Devil Fruit that grants him control over clay. Grus skillfully utilizes this power to create clay golems that he manipulates from a distance, engaging in battle without direct involvement. Additionally, he can shape the clay into melee weapons for personal combat or employ it to cushion falls. Following Koby's abduction by Marshall D. Teach (Blackbeard), Helmeppo and Hibari sought Grus' help, urging him to intervene either by invading Hachinosu or deploying a Seraphim to confront the Blackbeard Pirates. However, Grus considered both requests to be unreasonable, explaining that SWORD's operations were limited due to Drake's whereabouts being unknown. Eventually, Grus and his fellow SWORD members teamed up with Vice Admiral Garp to launch an invasion on Hachinosu to rescue Koby. As the events unfolded, Grus couldn't help but envy Koby's status as the "Hero of the Navy," hinting at potential friction between them in the future.
