Kumate Tribe

The Kumate Tribe is a group of cannibalistic people in East Blue.

About

Members of this tribe are all humans; however, those that were seen all share one physical characteristic, having visibly similar noses that have the same color and shape. Kumate Tribesmen all style their hair in the same fashion, shaving most of it and tying what is left into a long antenna-like ponytail on the top of their heads and leaving a little hair on the back of their heads. All tribesmen wear the same outfit, consisting of a striped shirt, torn skirts, a grass necklace, a long scarf-like cloth tied around their necks, and sandals. They also have their tribal symbol tattooed or painted on the backs of their hands. The Kumate Tribe was founded on September 29th. There are between thirty to fifty tribesmen.

Homeland

The Kumate Tribe's homeland is on an island within East Blue, and representative of their clan's name, the island itself is shaped like a bear's paw, round in shape with four mountains protruding on the edge in reminiscence of toes.

History

The tribe easily defeated the Buggy Pirates when they were under the temporary captaincy of Richie and attempted to eat them. After the Kumate Tribe discovered Buggy's severed limbs, Buggy, with the help of Alvida, was reunited with his body parts and managed to defeat the Kumate Tribe and save his crew.

Kuja

The Kuja are a tribe of all female fighters found on the island of Amazon Lily. Apparently, until they found Luffy on their island, most of them had never seen a man before.

Appearance

They typically seem to wear a warrior style of clothing they have for every day use that is skimpy and usually have straps, as well as a bikini style briefs/clothing on their lower regions or very short loin clothes. Many wear thigh length boots and stockings or have their legs completely bare. The style of clothing they wear would be considered otherwise provocative to normal people but are worn freely by the women on the island. On top of this outfit, they often wear a long cape that reaches from the shoulders to the ankles which appears to be a marine uniform jacket. Workers seen in the fields and at other chores without a cape, thus this proves the capes are not fixed permanently onto their outfits.

For evening and casual wear it was seen that they have a patterned shawl that goes over their top half but leaves the shoulders bare. They wear nothing underneath this shawl and it is tied together at the middle of the breasts with a single bow and often wear a mini-skirt on their lower half to match this or the usually bikini/loin cloth instead. Warriors are seen each carrying a large snake wrapped around them. When the Kuja threatened Luffy, it was revealed that they use the snakes as bows.

Overall Strength

The women are raised in the ways of the warrior and are often burly and strong, but there are the odd beauties amongst them. Despite being a warrior tribe, the Kuja cultivate a surprisingly peaceful existence within Amazon Lily, and only engage in battle amongst themselves in arranged competitions held in the local arena for the general public's entertainment.

Typically, as there are no men to do the work that they would otherwise do elsewhere in the world, the women do all the chores from farming and hunting to building and smithing.

Haki

While the warriors of Kuja may lack information on Devil Fruits, or even know of their existence, most (if not all) seem to be knowledgeable and fairly proficient in the use of Haki. They can imbue their arrows with Busoshoku Haki, mainly to increase the overall impact. This puts the Kuja warriors above most other characters seen in the series, as Haki is not a widely used ability.

Snake Weapons

The Kuja all have snakes which can be used as weapons or other things. When not in use, the snakes wrap themselves around the body of the Kuja who owns them. The serpents' bodies are about as long as the Kuja who use them and they all wear small berets and a scarf. Salome, Hancock's snake, is an exception as its body is exceptionally long compared to the others and it wears a horned skull on its head with some kind of furry scarf around its neck.

When the snakes form into their various shapes, no word is spoken by the Kuja (as seen so far) to instruct the snake to take the shape it does. How the snakes know which form to take is uncertain. They are also useful for tracking people and animals, as Hancock used her snake to find Luffy after the war.

Kinokobito

A kinokobito is a race composed of people with mushroom body and four legs.

Appearance

Kinokobito are human-sized humanoid figures with four legs. Their bodies are composed of two mushroom-shaped halves, with spots on the bottom of each section of their torso. They have a very tall cap on their heads.

History

Whole Cake Island Arc
A kinokobito was captured by Big Mom and trapped within a book full of creatures by Mont-d'Or. They seem to be capable of human speech, as the one trapped inside Big Mom's book was calling for help.

Trivia
The name of this race can be translated literally as Mushroom People.

Humans

Human beings are the dominant race in the world, as they outnumber most other races, and are usually among the most technologically advanced and organized of the races. Most islands are inhabited by humans, even in the Grand Line, where most of the stronger races such as the fish-men and giants are found.

Appearance

Humans come in a range of sizes, ranging from "normal" to much taller (such as Jerry). Some, such as Gecko Moria and Charlotte Linlin, are extremely large for human standards; Linlin is 880 cm (28'10") tall, far surpassing an average human's height by roughly six times. However, these humans remain small compared to giants, who have a minimum height of 12 meters (around 40 feet). These large humans are roughly the same size as Wotans. Some humans have features that are unique, such as Usopp's long nose, which led to people mistaking him for a fish-man in Cocoyasi Village.

Some humans have an ape-like appearance such as Masira, Shoujou, the Utan Divers, Hamburg and the Coffee Monkeys; Masira claimed openly to be human and not ape, although he was not insulted when called a "monkey". Humans with demonic features have also appeared in the storyline (mainly in the Impel Down Arc) and have traits such as pointed ears, sharp teeth and intimidating facial features; Gecko Moria is notably demonic in appearance, having white skin, pointed ears and even small horns on his forehead. A few humans have even been seen with goat or sheep-like horns growing on their heads, such as Merry and Caesar Clown. Even amongst families, size and proportional differences may occur, the most prominent example being the Gorgon Sisters. Some humans can be born with abnormally long skulls, as shown by the likes of Strawberry and Chinjao, with the top of their heads being quite tall, however it appears this trait is not hereditary as Chinjao's own grandchildren lack this feature.

Overall Strength

Most of the inhabitants of the One Piece world are normal humans, and are one of the weakest races on the planet. While the average human is as weak as in real life, with enough training, they are able to become Superhumans- normal humans with high levels of physical strength. They can also train to gain incredible abilities. Some humans like Koala have demonstrated that humans can learn Fish-Man Karate, despite not being Fish-Men themselves. Many humans have developed a variety of martial arts styles to defend themselves with such as Black Leg Style and Hasshoken. Additionally humans often wield swords and other weapons to compensate. Several human swordsmen are shown to be extremely powerful individuals such as Zoro, Shanks, Kyros, Ryuma (when he was alive), and world's strongest swordsman Dracule Mihawk. In addition, normal humans are more likely to consider eating Devil Fruits to compensate for their lower physical abilities.

There is also a Zoan Devil Fruit called Hito Hito no Mi which grants any animal that eats it human abilities such as intelligence, speech, and the ability to take a human hybrid form and full human form, as seen with its current user the Drum Island reindeer, Tony Tony Chopper. Using his human intelligence the fruit granted him, Tony Tony Chopper developed the Rumble Ball to grant him further transformations.

Giants

Giants are a race of humanoids that vastly overshadow the other known races of the world in size. The most commonly known giants are those from the island of Elbaf. There are also different tribes of giants such as the Ancient Giants and the unknown tribe of the Yeti Cool Brothers.

Appearance

Being giants, they are literally giant humans in appearance, although many giants seen have been noted as having more exaggerated proportions and features than most humans. They are so large that when they cry, their tears can cause large areas on the ground to appear flooded.

They are not to be confused with large-sized humans such as the Franky Family's Kairiki Destroyers or Bartholomew Kuma. To a giant, these large humans are no more than "oversized pipsqueaks." Large-sized humans, at their tallest, reach the knee height of a giant; a normal human only reaches as high as the ankle in comparison. Edward Newgate, a large-sized human, has shown that his entire body is barely taller than the giant Lonz's head alone. Normal giants are 12 meters tall at minimum, while the tallest known human, Charlotte Linlin, is only 8.8 meters tall. Overall, normal giants tend to hover around 20 meters in height when fully grown, with Morley currently being the shortest known giant at 12.53 meters tall and Dorry being the tallest known normal giant at 22.6 meters.

Sanjuan Wolf is a notable giant who stands taller than Ancient Giants, as he is nearly three times as tall as Oars and as big as the Marineford headquarters building. He is considered to be one of a kind among giants due to his massive size, though this was attributed to a Devil Fruit he possesses rather than natural growth.

Overall Strength

Giants are an inherently strong and collectively a near-unstoppable race. Average humans cannot stand up to them, making them ideal guards and deadly warriors. Throughout the series, characters regularly state awareness of the power of giants.

Giant Feats

Oars' strength was said to be powerful enough to move continents, and his fearsome reputation drew Moria to acquire his corpse for zombification, believing that its power would help him become the Pirate King. Big Mom believed that if she had managed to gain the allegiance of the giant warriors of Elbaf, she would have been able to defeat the other three Emperors and become the Pirate King herself. During the Ohara Incident, Saul lifted up and smashed a number of the colossal Buster Call fleet battleships, which were far larger than him. He had been noted to have more strength than an average giant. In fact, many giants are servants of the World Government and the Marines, enforcing the latter's status as one of the Three Great Powers. Their overall strength is the primary reason that the World Government is conducting research on gigantification, in the hopes of creating their own giant armies.

Relative Size and Strength

Just as large-sized humans have an advantage against "normal" humans, large-sized giants like Oars have a massive advantage against "normal" giants. Large-sized humans, even those with great strength, are usually just too weak to take on a giant, as Oimo and Kashii proved to the Kairiki Destroyers. Most giants thus far have either been taken down by the strongest of the human fighters or by tactics. In all observed cases, combatting giants has been achieved through exploiting their great size, tight teamwork and cooperation, and turning the giants against one another. Oimo and Kashii were taken down by the joint efforts of the Galley-La foremen, Zambai, Sodom, and Gomorrah. While Sodom and Gomorrah had the strength and size almost equal to the giants, the others who aided them used more tactical efforts, such as pinning down Kashii's face when he fell and using Oimo to deal a knock-out blow to his partner.

Drawbacks and Weaknesses

While all giants are incredibly strong, their sheer size is also their biggest disadvantage. The larger giants such as Oars and Oars Jr. are so big that they make for easy targets during battles. Another disadvantage is space, as giants need room to maneuver themselves without damaging buildings or stepping on allies.

Fish-Men

Fish-men are one of two humanoid races that inhabit and rule the seas (the other being the merfolk). In terms of leadership, Fisher Tiger, Jinbe, and Arlong were said to have the highest respect amongst their people. They are classified as Type C creatures, "Big Savage".

Appearance

Fish-men are more fish-like than merfolk, usually looking like a combination between a man and a fish or other aquatic creature, such as an octopus, manta ray, or sawshark; however, they still have legs (in fact, Decken has four). They also have gills between their shoulders and necks, sometimes covered by their clothing, as well as often having webbed hands. Depending on species, they may have multiple limbs (mainly extra arms).

Size may also differ greatly between individuals, as Arlong was much taller than any of his crew members, but was small compared to Fisher Tiger, while Wadatsumi is even bigger than an ancient giant like Oars. For fish-men pirates in pirate crews that are primarily fish-man based (Sun Pirates, Arlong Pirates, and New Fish-Man Pirates), it appears customary to have that crew's jolly roger tattooed somewhere on the person's body, showing allegiance to a crew.

Overall Strength

From birth, fish-men are physically ten times as strong as normal humans. This difference is magnified underwater, where a human's power is cut in half, while fish-men are not only completely unhindered, but are even strengthened. Jinbe himself noted that on dry land, he had little power to offer. Considering the impressive strength of a fish-man as powerful as him, this shows the massive difference in the potential of any fish-man when in the water compared to being on dry land. Overall, the fish-man race can be considered unstoppable in battle while in their natural habitat, the sea. As expected, they are excellent swimmers, and are capable of swimming through the water at a great speed and force. However, their speed is no match for the merfolk, who are the fastest swimmers in the world. In addition, they can still talk under water and cannot drown. However, breathing air into their gills makes them suffer like a normal fish would. While they can use their gills to breathe in water, they have to switch back to their lungs to breathe in air. If a fish-man were to eat a Devil Fruit, they, like anyone who partakes of the fruit, will lose their ability to swim forever. They will still be able to breathe underwater, though they will be unable to move while in it.

Like merfolk, fish-men also possess the ability to communicate with sea creatures. In particular, fish-men seem adept at communicating with large sea monsters, and possess a unique capacity to bring out the primal rage in such creatures. This ability was first demonstrated when Arlong induced Momoo into a primal frenzy to have him attack the Straw Hats during the battle at Arlong Park, despite Momoo's initial reservations about doing so. The ability was shown again in more detail when Hody and, to a more limited extent, the officers of his crew used it to induce the large Sea Monsters the New Fish-man Pirates had in their possession into a similar rage to the one created by the Energy Steroids they had been eating. The animal being influenced has to be at least somewhat willing to comply, as was shown when Surume quickly stopped squeezing Shirahoshi on Hody's command due to Luffy's intervention, and afterwards refused to follow any more of Hody's orders. Just as with normal merfolk, fish-men are still unable to communicate with Sea Kings; only the Mermaid Princess who awakens the power of the ancient weapon Poseidon, currently Shirahoshi, is capable of doing so.

Dwarves

Dwarves are a race in the One Piece world. They were first mentioned on a list of slave prices that Duval gave to Sanji. They sell for Beli 700,000 as slaves. They were first seen in Green Bit when Robin and Usopp were exploring the forest at the northern part of the island off the coast of Dressrosa, they discovered a tribe of dwarves living on the island.

Appearance

Dwarves are an extremely small sentient race. In comparison to an average sized human, their difference in height is approximately the same as that between a normal-sized human and an average-sized giant. They are mostly human in appearance, with chibi-like proportions, and often have pointed noses. Members of the Tontatta Tribe have thick fluffy tails.

Inter-species Relationships

The dwarves are valued as slaves by normal humans considering the standard price for a dwarf is Beli 700,000. Dwarves refer to humans as "Big Humans" and casually ask them whether they are good or bad and as a tradition a good human can prove him/herself by either giving up their weapons or being stripped of all their possessions. Dwarves are very careful not to be seen by any humans as they will try to kill anyone who sees them unless they promise not to tell anyone of their existence. They are also gullible to anything humans say to them, making them simple to be motivated by Kyros and easily fooled by Doflamingo. Dwarves are capable of reproducing with humans, as shown by the existence of Charlotte Normande, one of Charlotte Linlin's daughters.

They are behind Dressrosa's belief in fairies and accept the country's offerings to them. However, most of the citizens are aware of their existence and only call them fairies as a facade. According to Wicca, they only show themselves to the Riku royal family, but they make an exception for Usopp and his friends. After Doldo III's return to the throne, the dwarves and the humans now coexist as peace returns to Dressrosa. Dwarves are one of the races known to live in Totto Land, where they live in harmony with other races.

Overall Strength

Despite their small size, dwarves possess great strength, with a single dwarf being able to easily destroy a building. They are very fast, enough for them to disappear in a blink of an eye, making it nearly impossible for a normal person to see them. They are known as great cultivators as they stated that they can cultivate any plant, as evidenced by the abundance of plant life on Green Bit. However, they have trouble growing SMILE correctly, as it is artificial in nature. Dwarves are shown to be extremely gullible and trusting, easily convinced to believe anyone, even if they are obviously lying.

Certain dwarves fight with a style known as Tontatta Combat, which utilizes their unique traits and strength of their race to bludgeon bigger opponents.
