Mu really is the counterpart to nika/luffy. Luffy’s white clouds (hagoromo) are “the gateway to nika’s fantasy”. Imu makes good or bad things happen to people (i.E, omen) using his black flames (hagoromo). This chapter adds more evidence that imu may be a lunarian. Imu’s wings look like lunarian wings instead of the devil wings we saw before, and he is as big as king. The way imu uses his black flames is also similar to how king manipulated fire.

It makes sense in a way: lunarians have always been portrayed as superior to humans, gods, and then there’s the mysterious flame in their back. Vegapunk used the mother flame to help power the seraphim. Compare the cross in kuma’s church to imu’s symbol. The first has the symbol of the ancient kingdom where imu has devil horns and a ring, but the cross is the same the world government’s is more abstract. And if the cross symbolises the red line and the calm belt, then at the center is the “land of gods”.

Placing marie geoise there and naming themselves gods always seemed very intentional from the world government: like conquering and erasing the “land of gods” symbolized winning the war. This plays to imu’s themes of the fallen angel. Will be interesting to see how imu black flame that make good or bad things happen affects buggy who fail upwards - either way of good or bad make buggy win. Imu ain't a lunarian his wings are different from king and there are times where he doesn't have his wings. Those wings are more similar to gunko then king's wings. Imu is probably in his hybird form and the wings are apart of his devil fruit, though we'll probably have to see.
